On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, an awareness programme was organised on 10 October by the Department of Psychiatry at Sri Ganganagar Homoeopathic Medical College, Hospital and Research Institute, Tantia University. The programme aimed to raise awareness about mental health among students, interns, postgraduate (PG) scholars and staff members, while highlighting the importance of effective stress management in everyday life.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Pranab Kumar Chakraborty emphasised that mental health is just as important as physical health. He encouraged students to manage academic and personal stress in a positive and healthy manner and advised them to seek professional guidance whenever needed.

During the programme, Dr. Shweta Sharma, Assistant Professor and Clinical Psychologist, and Dr. Asmita Munjal, Clinical Psychologist, shared valuable insights into the common causes of stress and its impact on both mental and physical well-being. They discussed practical stress-management techniques and encouraged students to develop a positive outlook, maintain a regular daily routine and seek psychological support whenever necessary.

The programme was hosted by Dr. Nalini. Several senior faculty members and staff were also present, including Dr. Sharanjit, Dr. Nikita Batra, Dr. Rekha, Dr. Anupura, Dr. Manpreet, Dr. Pradeep, Dr. Nidhi, Dr. Dimple, Dr. Dimple Bishnoi, Dr. Jaspinder, Dr. Sunil Bishnoi, Dr. Kundan and Dr. Harman. Senior Medical Officer Dr. Tarsem Singh also attended the programme. Students, interns and PG scholars actively participated in the event.

The programme concluded with an important message: mental health deserves the same care and attention as physical health. It also aimed to dispel common myths surrounding mental health, encourage open conversations about stress and emotional well-being, and remind participants that seeking help from mental health professionals is a positive and responsible step towards a healthier life.
