PG ORIENTATION PROGRAM
The Orientation Program for the 2025–26 postgraduate batch of Dr. S.S. Tantia Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre was organized at the medical college campus, where experts delivered lectures on a wide range of academic and professional subjects, including time and stress management, clinical laboratory practices, biomedical waste management, communication skills, blood center and transfusion services, adverse drug reactions, medical documentation, and protocol writing.
Chairperson Mrs. Sunita Tantia, Tantia University mentor Dr. Vishu Tantia, Vice Chairperson Dr. Mohit Tantia, Executive Director Dr. K.S. Sukhdev, and Deputy Director (Medical College) Gurbhajan Singh expressed happiness over the successful organization of the event. The inaugural session began with the ceremonial lamp lighting by Chief Guest Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) M.M. Saxena, Dean Dr. Vijay K. Sehgal, Medical Superintendent Dr. H.S. Bindra, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Deepak Monga, and PG Coordinator Dr. Amrit A. Swami.
While addressing the students, Dean Dr. Vijay K. Sehgal said that postgraduate admission marks the beginning of deeper knowledge, greater responsibility, and the pursuit of excellence. He stated that PG students are now responsible for patient care associated with the college’s Jan Sewa Hospital, which has more than 1100 beds. He described the next three years as a roadmap for their future and emphasized that although postgraduate studies involve challenges and pressure, these experiences help doctors become confident and experienced professionals. He also encouraged doctors to treat patients with compassion and empathy.
At the beginning of the program, PG Coordinator Dr. Amrit A. Swami introduced the event, while Medical Superintendent Dr. H.S. Bindra provided detailed information about the college and hospital facilities. During the academic sessions, Dr. Deepak Monga spoke on time and stress management, Dr. Dimple Kapoor discussed clinical laboratory management, Dr. Charu Nayar delivered a lecture on biomedical waste and needle stick injury, and Dr. Richa Mishra addressed the topic of blood center and transfusion services. Dr. Sahil Thakral spoke on documentation in medical practice, Dr. Indradeep Kochar discussed communication skills, Dr. Vishal Gupta explained the district residency program, Dr. Prabhat Kansal delivered a session on adverse drug reactions, and Dr. Amrit A. Swami addressed the topic of introduction to writing protocols. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Suchira Chalana from the Department of Microbiology.
